Chanter Park

Introduction

The City of St. Albert is seeking public input to help refine specific elements of the Chanter Park design. At this stage, feedback will focus on improving how park features are arranged and experienced within an established site layout.

About Chanter Park

In 2024, the Cherot Parks Master Plan was published with conceptual designs for park spaces within the Cherot neighbourhood. Chanter Park, identified as Community Park 1, is the largest park space in Cherot.

The park design was updated to reflect changes to adjacent development and the future school site. The City is responsible for developing the park space, while the selected school board is responsible for the school site and supporting amenities which typically include playgrounds, tarmac areas, and/or basketball courts.

Current Park Elements

The current design for Chanter Park includes:

• a full-size (U14/U15) soccer field
• an amphitheater and learning node
• a gathering area with tables and community games
• a small toboggan hill
• multi-use trails

The City is looking for feedback on refinements to these elements, such as the placement of pathways and seating, accessibility, available space, and how features relate to one another within the park.

How Your Input Will Be Used

Public input will be reviewed alongside technical requirements, site conditions, park design standards, policies, financial feasibility and overall project considerations to help inform refinements to the park design, including any trade-offs or changes that may be required.

A What We Heard report will be shared following the engagement period. The report will summarize feedback received and explain how input informed design refinements.
