The City of St. Albert retained the expertise of Berlin Communications to explore new strategies for engaging diverse demographics. The focus was on understanding the communication behaviours and preferences of all St. Albertans so that every resident receives the information they need from their City.

This public participation initiative gathered community input on what St. Albert means to residents. Based in part on this input, the City will identify themes to guide ongoing communications with residents, potential residents, businesses, and visitors.

Project Purpose

The purpose of this engagement was to make the City of St. Albert’s communications as relevant, useful, and convenient as possible.

We sought to understand:

  • What kinds of information residents want and need from the City.

  • How residents prefer to receive that information.

  • What residents think of the City’s communication efforts today.

Engagement Process

All residents were invited to share their thoughts through an online survey. Feedback helped identify themes to use in ongoing communications and will contribute to shaping the City’s future communications.

Thank you to all residents who took the time to share their thoughts, ideas, and experiences during this process. Your contributions have provided valuable insights into how the City can better connect with the community.

The feedback gathered is summarized in the What We Heard Report ↗, which will guide the development of updated communication plans and strategies in the months ahead. These plans will ensure City communications remain timely, accessible, and relevant to the needs of all St. Albertans.
