Youth Transitional Housing Feasibility Study
The City is undertaking a Feasibility Study to support the development of Youth Transitional Housing. This feasibility study provides Council with key financing information and insights, contributing to a collaborative effort to address homelessness in St. Albert.
Why a Feasibility Study?
A key recommendation from the St. Albert Mayor’s Task Force to End Homelessness’ final report is to prioritize reducing youth homelessness through the development of local youth transitional housing.
Youth and stakeholders will be consulted by the City to share feedback and perspectives that will be considered to gain a clear understanding of youth needs, building requirements, location options, a preferred service delivery model, costs, and funding and partnership opportunities.
What's Youth Transitional Housing?
Youth Transitional Housing refers to a supportive type of accommodation, specially designed for the needs of teenagers and young adults, that is meant to bridge the gap from homelessness to permanent housing. Youth transitional housing offers a safe place to live with:
Structure
Supervision
Support
Life skills
Education and training (in some cases)
The Youth transitional housing program aims to empower young people in our community by providing them with the necessary tools and support to overcome homelessness and work toward stable, independent living.
