Proposed Financial Plan and Budget

The City is committed to being fiscally responsible and achieving financial sustainability. This is difficult when the City is seeing decreased revenues and increased expenses as a result of numerous external factors (i.e. slower than anticipated COVID-19 revenue recovery, reduction in capital grant funding, inflationary costs, etc.).

If this continues, higher than historical tax increases are needed to maintain current City services. It is not possible to maintain current services with modest tax increases; change is inevitable. This upcoming process for the 2022 Budget will prompt difficult conversations and hard choices to ensure long-term sustainably.

The City needs to ensure the provision of programs and services most valued by our community. We are engaging the community to provide input to City Council to help inform decision-making based on community priorities and the financial realities of our City.

Service levels currently provided have been captured in broad categories to start, with some opportunity to provide more specific input further along the survey. Please provide your input on which you believe should have service levels increased, which should be maintained, and which should be reduced.
